Printable two-digit addition worksheets with answers
Make a fresh practice sheet for your classroom, tutoring session or home. The generator uses whole numbers from 10 to 99. Choose 1–100 problems, preview every page, then download or print the PDF. No account or payment is required.
Addition with and without regrouping
Regrouping means carrying to the next place-value column. In 47 + 28 = 75, the ones add up to 15, so you carry one ten. In 23 + 14 = 37, neither column needs a carry.
- Any: allow both kinds of problems. This does not guarantee an equal mix.
- Always: every problem needs at least one carry.
- None: no problem needs a carry.
A carry from the tens column also counts as regrouping: 60 + 50 = 110. Two-digit addends can produce a three-digit answer.
Choose a useful amount of practice
Start with the default 20 problems for one worksheet page. Lower the number for a short activity, or use up to 100 for several pages. The number range applies to both numbers in each problem, not the answer. If your rules leave too few unique problems, widen the range or reduce the count.
Print the worksheet and keep the answers separate
Select US Letter or A4 before generating. The answer key starts on a new page and uses the same problem numbers. To hand out only the practice sheet, select the worksheet pages in your print settings.
Read the printing guide for paper size, scaling and download help.

How to use the addition worksheet maker
- Choose None for no carrying, Always for a carry in every problem, or Any to allow either kind.
- Set both addends between 10 and 99, choose 1–100 problems, and select US Letter or A4.
- Select Generate worksheet, preview the pages, then download the PDF. The answer key starts on a separate page.
Addition without carrying
In 23 + 14 = 37, add the ones: 3 + 4 = 7. Then add the tens: 2 + 1 = 3. Neither column reaches ten. Choose No regrouping for a worksheet with no carries.
Carry from the ones column
For 47 + 28, first add 7 + 8 = 15. Write 5 in the ones column and carry 1 ten. Then add 4 + 2 + 1 = 7 tens, giving 75. Choose With regrouping when every problem should require a carry.
Why can two-digit addition have a three-digit answer?
A carry can also come from the tens column alone. In 60 + 50 = 110, the ones give 0 + 0 = 0, while 6 tens + 5 tens = 11 tens. Regroup those as 1 hundred and 1 ten. The Always rule includes this kind of problem; it does not promise a carry specifically from the ones column.
Can I allow both kinds of addition?
Any regrouping allows problems with or without carrying. Each random worksheet may contain either kind and does not guarantee an equal mix. Generate another version to choose fresh number pairs.
Can I make another version?
Yes. Generate again with the same settings for a fresh selection of problems. Problems do not repeat within a worksheet; separate worksheets may share some problems. Your custom title and generated files stay in your browser.
